Iyengar yoga – for skader?
”The aim of asana therapy is two fold. Firstly to ease the patient’s pain and to provide momentary relief and then to strengthen the back muscles which prevent the recurrence of the protrusion.
Yoga therapy is based on the principle of Yoga Sutras 1,33: ..the affected region can be favourably disposed through the cultivation of friendliness, compassion, joy and indifference to the pain.
.. A healthy pain is accompanied by signs of relief; it is treatable and does not continue once one comes out of the posture. This is the first sign of healing. An unhealthy pain is destructive, excruciating and continues even after one comes out of the posture…
… the pain (healthy) will gradually disappear and it is that time that one should be indifferent to the affected part and no longer pamper it.”
